Noun


A noun is a word used to describe a person, place or thing (like events or ideas). Some examples are:
A personprofessor, student, nurse, Paul, Dr. Smith, Mr. White
an animalelephant, horse, bird, duck, dog
a placecity, province, state, Canada, Mexico, Miami
a thingappple, chair, watch, plane, plant
an event or activitya trip, a party, lunch, Christmas
an idea or conceptdemocracy, humour, time, love

Nouns in English do NOT have a gender (masculine or feminine). Nouns DO use numbers to indicate one (singular) or many (plural). There are nouns that are "countable" and "non-countable."

The man works at the store.
The elections for president were this year.
